The Senior Security Operations Lead oversees the centralized coordination of IT Security operations, focusing on security principle of people, processes, and technology to manage and reduce cybersecurity threats and incidents. The has experience in executing and implementing information security strategy to reduce risk, while providing appropriate level of information security. This position will be responsible for planning, developing, mentoring, leading and monitoring work of the security operations and incident response teams. Essential Functions:

  • Manage initiatives within the full Information Security Program including directly overseeing the evaluation, development and implementation of security programs. Consults with internal stakeholders to meet client delivery, quality, and cost goals
  • Manages subordinate staff members in the day-to-day operations of cybersecurity in a highly remote environment
  • Creates a system of measurable metrics to effectively monitor the impact of the cybersecurity program. This position is directly supervising the cybersecurity incident/event response program. Must be able to oversee and provide metrics relevant to cybersecurity event detection and response
  • Manage the daily operations of the CSOC, ensuring alerts and investigations are handled properly and according to SLA
  • Ensures organizational procedures are aligned to maintain compliance with industry and regulatory standards
  • Regularly assess current security measures, identify monitoring gaps, and suggest new uses cases based on evolving threats by working closely with security engineering teams
  • Monitors trends to ensure organizational efficiency in cybersecurity applications
  • Organize and oversee training/learning exercises to ensure SOC team proficiency and relevance

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • 7+ years in Security Operations, with a strong emphasis on SOC management
  • Expertise in cybersecurity products, network, and endpoint security
  • Experience with Elasticsearch and event aggregation tools
  • Experience with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE)
  • People Management or Project Management experience

  • Knowledge of federal cybersecurity guidelines, including FISMA and OMB Mandates
  • CISSP or CISM
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Security Clearance (requires U.S. Citizenship)

The expected salary range for this position is between $100,000 and $150,000. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation (meeting or exceeding the range) will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).
