Our facility in Miamisburg, Ohio is home to our Defense and Aerospace Business Unit with strategic leadership and administration responsibilities for the global defense organization. This site specializes in the design, manufacture and test of energetic safety systems including electronic safe, arm and fire (ESAF) devices and firing modules (FMs), ignition safety devices (ISDs), custom energetics, and Blue Chip detonators and serves a variety of high-performance applications including precision munitions, tactical missiles, launch vehicles, and strategic missiles.

Excelitas Technologies has an immediate need for an enthusiastic Material Handler who will be physically responsible to assist in moving packages from the dock to the receiving area to open and verify the count of the deliveries.

Responsibilities:

  • The responsibilities include receiving material from receipt into SAP to receiving inspection to stockroom storage; issuing to manufacturing/work in process while maintaining traceability of all product related material;
  • SAP/computer skills are required to be able to accomplish the associated transactions with the movements needed to move the components in our MRP system;
  • Interface with engineering, production and purchasing to coordinate material movements;
  • Understands and complies with all written procedures for inventory and material handling activities;
  • Ensure efficient movement of materials required to meet production schedules;
  • Identify and track material shortages and will use the material shortage escalation process;
  • Assist with kit pulls for work order pick lists;
  • Responsible for inventory accuracy including material organization, material issuing, stocking materials, monthly cycle counts and participate in yearly physical cycle counts;
  • Resolve inventory related issues such as material variances;
  • File all paperwork, including the organization of work orders;
  • Assist with returns to vendors;
  • Help with shipping of all materials, including hazardous shipping. This requires moving large boxes from the production area to the dock and palletizing boxes;
  • Check cost of consignment parts against purchase orders.

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs. on a consistent basis;
  • Must be able to physically move supplies up and down stairs;
  • Must be able to use a 5-step ladder with handrails;
  • Hand and eye coordination required to operate a computer and mouse.

Preferred skills:

  • Excel experience is desired;
  • SAP experience is desired, as this system is used daily.

Essential functions and required skills:

  • High school diploma or GED required;
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing setting;
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience with inventory control;
  • Computer skills - inventory is kept in SAP and parts are issued out of inventory;
  • MS Word experience is required;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Great communication skills are necessary as this person will work closely with the Master Scheduler and Material Planner to ensure the movement of the materials is efficient and meets an extremely active production schedule;
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Please note that due to the requirements from the Department of Energy, U.S. CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED;
