Job Description

Join our winning team as aPiping Design Lead in Lake Jackson, TX. In your role as a Piping Design Lead you will support the Freeport, Texas manufacturing sites by providing oversight of all aspects of piping design on engineering projects to ensure that organizational goals and objectives are accomplished within authorized schedule and budget parameters. This role will work closely with engineering representatives, Tech Center personnel, and project managers to offer guidance and recommendations in the management of key projects. The position requires considerable judgment and latitude in performing job duties and is expected to function effectively with minimal direct supervision.

Piping Design Lead Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinate, oversee, and provide guidance to third-party EPC piping design; review EPC design packages (IFA) and return comments.
  • Participate in model reviews and other key project reviews to ensure that piping requirements are complied with.
  • Understand completely and communicate Olin design and drafting standards to EPCs.
  • Guide project scope definition and communicate scope, specifications, and design criteria to the EPC.
  • Review and approve mechanical and piping installation specifications.
  • Determine construction quantities and provide piping discipline input to construction cost estimates.

Piping Design Lead Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years working experience in industrial pipe fabrication (shop or field) and/or mechanical / piping engineering design required; chemical industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of piping materials, piping supports and restraints, manual valve sizing (use and application), and good design practices for sizing all piping systems is required.
  • Design experience in Chlor-Alkali or Epoxy facilities is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with specifications and installation details of construction bulk materials and equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of work flow/information flow between disciplines- particularly between Piping and Instrumentation and / or Civil / Structural.
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and possess a valid US driver's license.
  • Prior Olin experience in a related role preferred.
