POSITION SUMMARY

The HR Intern will assist the human resources team with a wide range projects and tasks related to recruitment, onboarding, compliance, employee engagement, payroll, benefits, and employee training and development.

The primary responsibilities of the HR Intern will be to help with production recruitment at our Wausau facilities. This includes: sourcing candidates, phone screens, scheduling onsite interviews, drafting offer letters, and supporting candidates through their pre-hire paperwork.

POSITION DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Assist with steps in the recruitment process, including: posting job openings, reviewing applicant resumes, conducting phone interviews and initial screening, performing candidate reference checks, coordinating and monitoring pre-employment screening, and creating offer letters.
  • Assist with new hire onboarding.
  • Create and manage job ads through various social media platforms.
  • Gather market data to support recruitment strategies.
  • Enter and process changes in the Enterprise Management System for new hires, position changes, terminations, and other employee data changes.
  • Proper handling and maintenance of employee and applicant files.
  • Generate various reports using Excel and online software.
  • Identify community outreach opportunities and organize team participation at events.
  • Assist with initiatives to streamline HR processes, increase employee engagement, and expand employee utilization of current service offerings.
  • Assist in completing other projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pursuing an Associates or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Internet applications
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with department, associates, and external customers
  • A self-motivated individual who wants to learn and experience opportunities outside of their comfort zone.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Mostly an office environment with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor. The noise levels in the work environment are usually moderate.

Travel requirements are infrequent.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facility. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk and hear. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
