  • Navy Electrician's Mate training and experience.
  • PLC experience or willingness to learn Ladder logix, 4-20 ma process and analytical instruments, variable frequency drives, and across the line magnetic starters.
  • Competence with tools, equipment and machines; ability to do detailed work; a logical mind; resourcefulness; and a willingness to learn about electricity, electrical systems and test equipment
  • Carry out operations, troubleshooting/repair and maintenance tasks for electrical components, motors and controllers, transformers, comms and lighting systems, and other electrical and electronic support equipment.
  • Interpret schematics, diagrams, and blueprints related to chemical cleaning system designs and also operate and maintain essential equipment for moving and mixing fluids
  • Display an interest in electrical systems and equipment, possess attention to detail, and exhibit proficiency in operating tools and machinery
    Show resourcefulness, a willingness to learn, a strong aptitude for problem-solving with proven experience contributing as a team player that's delivered on designated responsibilities to accomplish specific objectives

As an Electrical System Technician in Lynchburg, VA, you will be part of the proven team in the Installed Base Business Unit. Your work will include working in a team environment to support chemical cleaning system set-up, operations, process systems maintenance and troubleshooting, and sealand packing and system deployment. The chemical application processes apply Framatome's patented sludge cleaning or radioactive system decontamination applications. The systems are made-up of heat transfer, ion exchange, pumping, ventilation, chemical handling, corrosion monitoring and waste treatment components. Nuclear plant systems that are chemically cleaned and/or decontaminated include steam generators, heat exchangers, reactor coolant systems or portions of the reactor coolant system. The Chemical Application Operations team mobilizes, sets up, tests, operates and troubleshoots application equipment and P&IDs. Daily activities will be diverse and largely depend on the status of each project plus your designated role on the contracted assignment. In general, tasks include:

  • Working closely with process chemists and control engineers to ensure the application process is set up to perform as designed to achieve maximum results and efficiently run the process.
  • Designing plant and equipment configuration so they can be readily adapted to suit the plant components and configurations taking environmental and economic aspects into account.
  • Required to write procurement authorizations, follow procedures to operate components/systems.
  • Assessing options for process improvements, expansions, or reconfiguration from operational experience.
  • Ensures compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.
  • Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.
  • Under general supervision, your responsibilities will be to work with a team on system deployments and testing of a chemical application system comprised of equipment components, i.e., pumps, 3000 kVA & 1500kVA transformers, resin, filters, reverse osmosis, 1 MW heaters, venting, etc., contained in sealands along with large volume process tanks and Frac tanks.
  • Provide technical support and improvement recommendations related to planning, designing, constructing and maintaining structures, systems and components.
  • Working hours are typically 7 AM to 4 PM while in the home office location(s) with the potential to work overtime to meet project deadlines.
  • Contracted project execution will involve shift work, including day/night shifts and weekends, at nuclear power plants. In many environments, you may need to wear protective clothing like safety glasses, steel toe/composite safety shoes, ear protectors, gloves, and a hard hat.

Your Total Rewards Package

The range of base salary for the position is between $34.00 - $43.27 per hour, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
