As an R&D (Research and development) Engineer - Power Electronics, you will contribute significantly to technology and product development projects by identifying and implementing innovative solutions. You will be responsible for the design and development of UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supplies) Products, that define and develop innovative power electronics solutions to fulfill customers' requirements, within a multi-disciplinary team of electrical, mechanical, thermal and control experts.

This position reports to

Global R&D/Technology Manager

Your responsibilities

  • Design and develop power converters.
  • Specify components and define technical requirements with suppliers.
  • Support the overall design cycle of the new product, from simulation to validation and documentation, trough design and test.
  • Conduct and coordinate complex analyses, develop recommendations based on technology/engineering practices and business considerations.
  • Support operations and after sales organization during trouble shooting phases.
  • Plan and coordinate a range of complex technology/engineering activities.
Your background

  • Master's in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with thesis in Power Electronics or Bachelors Degree in Electrical/Electronics with Power Electronics experience.
  • 5+ years of UPS experience.
  • Proven experience in power semiconductor characteristic, inductors and passive components.
  • Experience with power electronic design topologies, knowledge of UPS technology and familiarity with the power protection.
  • Knowledge of simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, LT Spice) and C programming language preferred.
  • Good communication skills in English, both oral and written. Other languages are an asset.
  • Significant experience in working within complex organization.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (5 percent).
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
