The Supervising Engineer will be responsible for leading laboratory testing programs, desktop studies, and reporting activities. This is a supervising team lead role, involving the coordination of a group of geotechnical engineering staff, overall data acquisition project management, client interfacing, marketing (proposal development), and quality control of engineering and reporting activities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.
  • Responsible for supervising engineers who are supporting their projects.
  • Complete projects of moderate complexity independently and participate as a senior project professional in the completion of large, highly complex projects.
  • As a Project Supervisor, develop, plan, coordinate and direct the project's technical aspects with previously set guidelines.
  • Reviews laboratory test assignments, design parameters, engineering methods, calculations, and draft reports.
  • Responsible for control of project budget and schedule.
  • Prepares and reviews invoices for projects they're performing and supervising.
  • Assists in training of lower level professionals.
  • Prepares proposals and establishes project pricing as delegated and reviewed by manager.
  • Performs market maintenance, prepares administrative reports, and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Contacts throughout the company and with outside clients having an influence on important decisions.
  • Acts as Site Manager or Lead Project Engineer on complex field investigations
  • Adheres to the quality management system and complies with QHSSE requirements.
  • Assists Engineering Manager with general management and Client maintenance

Job Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required, a discipline in Geotechnical Engineering preferred. MS or PhD also preferred.
  • Possess the ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in the US, required.
  • Have 7 years or more experience required.
  • Managed a team of four to six professionals required.
  • Proficiency in routine geotechnical engineering software (examples include Slope/W or SLIDE, LPILE, APILE, Settle3) preferred.
  • Proficient user of MS Office Suite; appropriate skill level on computer software applications pertinent to areas of specialization.
  • Must have a driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
