Title : Editor - Local Production

Status : Full time: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Sr. Director of Production Center Operations and Production

JOB OBJECTIVE :

Perform on a daily, ongoing basis, editing in support of WETA Local productions, including WETA Arts and Signature Dish. Perform other duties as may be assigned in accordance with union jurisdiction. This position is covered by the IBEW union contract.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Production editing (AVID) for WETA Local Productions
  • Collaborate with Local producers to create WETA local programs.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with the Local production team and work independently to create unique WETA programs

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED :

  • Knowledge of and experience with AVID editing platforms and editing in collaboration with producers under intense deadline pressure.
  • Knowledge of video and audio signal flow and monitoring to maintain the highest technical standards in compliance with FCC, PBS Network and Company production policy.
  • Working knowledge of routing switchers, transmission, file-based signal flow and media asset management systems.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work on different assignments on a daily, or even hourly basis, and to work long and sometimes irregular shifts, and work holidays and weekends as necessary.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :

Minimum five years of experience as an AVID editor at a network or local station

LOCATION

WETA and NewsHour Productions are Washington, DC established media and news organizations. We are a largely local workforce based out of the Campbell Place office in Arlington, VA. WETA and NewsHour Productions value employee flexibility when possible. Most positions based in our Arlington, VA office will be onsite or hybrid, depending upon the role.
