Job Overview

Subject Matter Expert (SME) II - Shipboard Navy Video Distribution Systems. 6TV/7TV/14TV/23TV/27TV/Video over IP / H264 / H265 Video expert be familiar with HDBT, POE & Ethernet over COAX (EOC) transitional systems. SME will have experience in multimedia and audio/visual control and distribution systems design projects. Will be the recognized expert who has demonstrated industry and public service leadership in C41SR systems. This position reports directly to the VIDS Group in Chesapeake, VA.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
  • Working with NIWC Atlantic and other technical codes, program/project managers, and SMEs, the SMEII will assist with the installation, planning, testing, and integration of complex audio-visual displays, various communication and electronic warfare systems, related ancillary and computer-based systems onboard naval ships and command centers worldwide.
  • Employee will be overall responsible for erecting system configurations, developing cutover plans, providing in lab and onsite integration of video products as well as video system programming.
  • SME will be familiar with Layer3 switch setup and will be applying security patches and retesting as needed to achieve desired results.
  • SME-II Will provide VIDS Project Manager day-to-day support in design, engineering & execution.
  • Coordinates with manager and supervisors apprised of their progress, maintain ability to work well with others, adhere to contract requirements, and comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:
  • We expect this employee to have experience in supporting technicians working in or around industrial environments such as shipyards and Naval/Coast Guard bases and piers.
  • We expect this work to be conducted in a timely and professional manner.
  • We expect the employee to be a self-starter and to pursue self-education to remain current with industry trends, new technology, new equipment and capabilities.
  • We expect the employee to keep manager and supervisors apprised of their progress, maintain ability to work well with others, adhere to contract requirements, and comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Create, review, and modify engineering and technical documentation including but not limited to Project Charters, Project Management Plans (PMP), System Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR), Project Management Tailoring Plans (PMTP), Engineering Change Tailoring Plans (ECTP), and Project Risk and Issue Registers.
  • Track, Register & provide CDRL Tracking for all completed contract deliverables.
  • Attend meetings, provide briefings, and participate in working groups as required by the customer.
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skill including ability to make significant presentations.
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously, while working independently and with other project personnel.
  • Must have valid driver's license.
  • Extron AV Associate
  • Experience with Microsoft Project & Scheduling
