Fireworks by Grucci is an 11 time World Record breaking company, that has been lighting up the skies since 1850. We have preformed firework displays all over the United States, for events such as EDC, Boston Fireworks Spectacular, Las Vegas Events. We also perform internationally in Dubai, China, the Maldives, and Greece.

Fireworks by Grucci’s sister company, Pyrotechnique by Grucci, assists with fireworks operations at its Radford, Virginia facility, located within the Radford Army Ammunition plant  As a Fireworks Handler you will be responsible for safely packing and preparing the products used on our firework displays.
This role regularly involves physical movement activity, including, but not limited to the lifting and movement of items up to 60 lbs. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have reliable transportation, and must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.

Current shift is Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.   
Weekend work may be necessary at times based on production needs and customer shipping schedule.   Overtime work can be expected when necessary to meet shipping 
schedules.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Be able to read, speak, and understand English.
  • Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Be able to read at Level 4 on the Graham-Field Eye Test Card (Jaeger Eye Test).
  • Be able to work and communicate well with others.
  • Must possess valid drirver's license
  • Be able to work well under the pressure of ensuring that requirements and specifications are met.
  • Be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Be able to work alone or in a team setting.
  • Be able to learn each function of the manufacturing process as relates to their department.
  • Be able to work in an ever-changing environment.
  • Be familiar with manufacturing and quality practices.
  • Be able to adapt to last minute change in work schedule.
  • Be able to work all overtime as required. Late evening, weekend and last minute overtime can be expected during and immediately following Fireworks season, but not limited to the time period of May through August. 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Must be committed to ISO and the company's Quality Management System using process approach and risk based methodologies.
  • Shares accountability for the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.
  • Produce stock items on a daily basis for the fulfillment of upcoming customer orders.
  • Take part in the standard workflow as product progresses through the build process.
  • Assemble, glue, and manufacture product per Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Use hand and specialty tools and equipment for sub-assembly and/or gluing of components, which includes, but is not limited to, Tipper Tie Machine Handgun, Taping Machine, and scissors.
  • Build up Grucci and Candle boxes for the shipment of product.
  • Assist IC to pull product for show orders, segregating product by size and type.
  • Learn the process of show pack out, including preparing product, using the cueing schematic to program the show, marking of the product, boxing and labeling for shipment.
  • Pack show orders as specified on program sheets.
  • Assist in the transport of product to and from the Magazine Storage Area.
  • Calculate weight of powder used in the manufacturing process using various types of scales.
  • Perform 100% inspection of components and follows procedures for reporting non-conformances to Team Leader or Supervisor.
  • Assist in taking a correct physical inventory count of product and supplies on hand.
  • Assist in loading and unloading fireworks shipments.
  • Assist in special projects assembly and perform testing.
  • Perform testing on incoming fireworks product and in stock product.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Dispose of explosive materials in the proper containers.
  • Participate in ongoing training as directed by Supervisor.
  • Obey all company work and safety rules.
  • Perform all other duties as required by the Supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull 45 lbs. on a continuous basis. 
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull 50 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for 8 to 12 hours per shift.
