At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated Guidance Navigation and Control Group Manager to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Leader in the design and development of new aircraft for both commercial and defense applications.
- Develop new vehicles with unique configurations (e.g., solar aircraft with highly flexible structure; distributed electric propulsion, etc.) and to serve new concepts of operations. -Our GNC concepts influence clean sheet design through flight test validation.
- Group Lead ensures the highest level of creativity, capability, and quality in deploying GNC systems across Aurora.
- Responsible for maturing the company’s technical capabilities, and responsible for leading individual contributors to develop and apply expertise across all relevant Aurora programs.
- Must be a US Person (US Citizen or US Permanent Resident/Green Card Holder).
-4-year engineering degree from an accredited university (BS in Aerospace Engineering, Dynamics and Controls, or similar)
- 7+ years of experience in GNC.
- Ability to lead control system development from initial design through flight test validation.
- Strong technical mastery of vehicle dynamics including helicopter, eVTOL or fixed wing architectures.
- Strong technical mastery of classical, modern, and robust control theory, including stability analysis.
- Demonstrated success in a highly collaborative environment; Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to positively motivate others.
- Excellent English written and oral communications skills.
- Masters or PHD in engineering with a focus in GNC or related discipline
- Experience in best practices for software reuse.
- Experience in Model Based Design using MathWorks tools.
- Experience with adaptive or robust control theory.
- Experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, and/or robotics.
- Ability to develop and deploy modern GNC methods.
- Ability to develop and execute hardware test plan.
- Experience with aircraft certification.
- Knowledge of commercial and/or military aircraft operations.
