Aurora Health Care's Facility Internship Program will offer qualified individuals the opportunity to learn the skills they need to begin a career in facility management. The goal of the program is to provide training in all facets of facilities maintenance and operations, including construction and design. Each intern will work alongside a mentor and knowledgeable preceptors for hands-on training that will provide them with the foundation they need for a career in facility management with Aurora Health Care.

The hands-on-training will focus on nine core trade skills.

Interns will make an impact on patients and their families, strengthen their communication skills, learn new software programs, and maybe even create the next process that revolutionizes how FM is done!


Position Purpose

  • Performs, assists, and supports a wide variety of routine maintenance functions such as minor equipment maintenance, small painting projects, minor plumbing and carpentry prepares, grounds keeping, and snow removal.

Essential Functions

  • Performs and assists with routine, non-skilled and semi-skilled repairs such as minor carpentry, minor plumbing (unplugging sinks, drains, etc.), changing light bulbs, and changing filters
  • Performs preventative maintenance inspections of equipment, following the preventative maintenance schedules and procedures. Maintains record and logs of preventative maintenance completed.
  • Maintains inventory of parks tools required for repairs of the building and grounds equipment.
  • Removes debris and assist in maintain a clean, orderly appearance of equipment rooms, facilities and grounds.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools and motorized equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in good working order.
  • Maintains daily logs, preventative maintenance records and equipment repair files for compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • May assist in construction, remodeling and maintenance projects in medical center and off-site locations.

Education
High School Graduate or GED
Experience
No experience required

Current enrollment at a trade school or technical college and/or individuals and Veterans in career transition.

Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Strong attention to detail.

Demonstrated ability in successfully completing tasks.

Strong teamwork skills.

Effective multitasking and prioritization skills.

Must demonstrate integrity, maturity, dependability, a positive attitude and enthusiasm.
