Position/Internship Description

Water Environment Federation® (WEF®) is a not-for-profit technical and educational organization with 36,000 individual members and 75 affiliated Member Associations representing water quality professionals around the world. WEF and its Member Associations proudly work to achieve our mission of preserving and enhancing the global water environment®.  WEF is located in Alexandria, VA and employs approximately 100 employees from a variety of career disciplines. 

WEF is seeking an intern to support critical communication programs and projects in a team oriented environment.  The internship is a paid, full-time opportunity with a duration of 6 months.  We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.  The intern will:
  • Coordinate, prepare, and edit communications and resources related to public education programs (e.g. letters, press releases, media alerts, reports, presentation materials).  
  • Screen, research and respond to written or telephone inquiries and requests for information both verbally and in writing.  
  • Sustain positive relations with WEF members, program participants, partners, and sponsors.  
  • Maintain public education program inventory and fulfill requests for materials.  
  • Review and update Web site content as needed.  
  • Arrange logistical aspects of events (e.g. exhibitions, workshops, meetings) for public education programs.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
 
Requirements
 
Bachelors in Communications, Public Relations or a related area
Strong writing skills
Self-motivated
Detail oriented
Expertise using Microsoft Office
